Global Women’s Breakfast
We are part of the Organizing Committee for the Global Women in Science initiative at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, an annual event held in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The initiative aims to foster an inclusive and supportive scientific community by promoting dialogue, networking, mentorship, and the visibility of women across all STEM disciplines. Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, and informal exchanges, the event brings together students, researchers, faculty members, and professionals from academia and industry to reflect on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of science.
As part of a broader international effort, the event is affiliated with the Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB), coordinated worldwide by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Each year, hundreds of institutions across the globe participate in this initiative, creating opportunities to strengthen connections among scientists and to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and education.
2025
On 11 February 2025, the University of Rome Tor Vergata joined the global IUPAC initiative by hosting the Global Women’s Breakfast 2025. The theme of the event was “Why (not) Women in Science ? Accelerating Equality in Science“,
bringing together students, researchers, and faculty members for a morning of discussion and networking. Participants had the opportunity to hear inspirational and motivational talks from women chemists at different stages of their careers, who shared their experiences, challenges, and perspectives on building a more inclusive scientific community

2026
The GWB event in 2026 evolved into a school-wide initiative of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, involving all four departments: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. Under the theme “Many Voices, One Science“, the event brought together researchers, faculty members, university students, and local high-school students to explore the value of multiculturality and multidisciplinarity in science. Through personal stories, scientific dialogue, and networking activities, participants reflected on how diverse voices and experiences contribute to a stronger, more innovative, and more inclusive scientific community.

Looking Ahead: Global Women’s Breakfast 2027
